A typical tour day

After a leisurely breakfast you leave Church House with your driver guide arriving mid-morning in the City of Bath with its unique mix of natural and man-made wonders that have created one of the world’s loveliest cities. At the heart of the city is the source of its name - the hot mineral water springs that brought the Romans to Bath over 2000 years ago. There are many other wonderful things to see and do in this elegant Georgian city. Visit the Pump Room where you can drink the spring waters renowned for their curative powers. Wander at your leisure and take in the atmosphere of this lovely city, the Georgian architecture, the wonderful honey colour of the Bath stone and imagine yourself in the England of George, Prince of Wales.

We then head across beautiful countryside to Lacock, a little gem of a village owned by the National Trust. The village remains today much as it did in the eighteenth century. With houses from the thirteenth century onwards, enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of a living village that captures the spirit of the past. The village was also used as a film set for location of Merryton in the BBC production of “Pride and Predjudice” so you can walk where Miss Bennet and Mr Darcy once trod! After lunch in an old-world pub or tearoom in the village we visit Lacock Abbey, founded in the early 12th century and later the home of William Fox-Talbot the inventor of the photographic negative-positive process. The Abbey has also been used in the making of many films including Harry Potter.

A leisurely drive along back roads through rolling countryside and picturesque little villages, then returning to our 18th century thatched house. Relax with a drink in our typical English cottage garden before enjoying a delicious three course dinner. Finally a peaceful night in your own suite.

This is a typical tour day for our guests. Could there ever be a more pleasant way of seeing England. It is so relaxing and civilised compared to the alternatives! No continual packing and unpacking. No different bed every night. No early starts. No packed tour buses. No waiting. No deadlines. No hassles of driving on the wrong side. No getting lost.

Whether you travel alone or with friends or relatives you will enjoy our personal care and attention, travelling in a large sedan or a spacious 8 seater van with you own driver/guide, to where you want to go at your own pace. All this at a price that compares favourably with big tour groups or self-drive, but so much more relaxing.
